Sharon’s Bio:
Dr. Sharon Kopis has over 20 years of professional nursing experience. She has held positions in nursing/healthcare administration and has over 15 years experience as a nurse educator.
As an associate professor nursing, she has expertise in course design, teaching methods and curricula design, with extensive work with RN-BSN programs including transition from residential to distance learning format and RN-BSN teaching methodologies.
Dr. Kopis has expertise in securing local, state and federal grant funds. She has experience with program design, implementation and outcomes evaluation. Grant funded healthcare programs included programs serving underserved women, children and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Dr. Kopis is also involved with the design of Evidence Based Practice environments and staff education.
Dr. Kopis holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership with a concentration in curriculum and instruction design in higher education from Argosy University. Her research focuses on adult education principles and online teaching methodologies for nursing. In addition she holds a MS in Nursing Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia, a post graduate certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Old Dominion University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University and an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing from Bluefield State University, a Parish Nurse Educator certificate from the International Parish Nurse Resource Center and a Parish Nurse Certificate from the Medical College of South Carolina.
Dr. Kopis is a member of professional organizations including the Virginia Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau and International Parish Nurse Resource Center. She serves on a variety of professional committees/services at the local, state level and federal level including the Virginia Nurses CE approval Committee. Dr. Kopis has also served with the United States Health Resources and Services Administration as a grants peer reviewer.
Cindy’s Bio:
Dr. Cynthia Goodrich has over thirty years of experience in professional nursing. Her clinical experience includes practicing as a staff nurse in medical-surgical nursing with an emphasis on orthopedic and spinal cord care. She has twenty years of practice in nursing leadership as a first line manager, a Clinical Nurse Specialist, a Women’s Health Educator, and a Magnet Program Coordinator. Cynthia has over ten years of experience as a nurse educator as an Associate Professor of Nursing and has been involved in developing a RN-BSN completion program and facilitating the transition of the RN-BSN program to a distance learning format. She also has a great deal of experience in course development for distance learning at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Areas of interest and expertise include leadership, pain management, aging issues, grant writing and program evaluation. She has several publications to her credit in the areas of pain management, evaluation of career advancement programs and the Magnet journey. Dr. Goodrich received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Russell Sage College, a Master of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Virginia, and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from the University of Sarasota. She holds a graduate certificate in gerontology and a certificate in Parish Nursing. Professional affiliations include membership in the Virginia Nurses Association, Academy of Medical-Surgical Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau. |
